Evaluation Question 5
How did you attract/address your audience?
The language used appeals towards my target audience, due to the slang terms and situations discussed in the main body of text, which are considered as relatable. As well as this the artists mentioned are fairly new and upcoming artists, which may inspire younger individuals who find themselves in similar situations.
My music magazine does follow some conventions, in the sense that the front cover featured one main model and sell lines, as well as company information. However, its USP is that the overall house style is inspired by i-D magazine, which adopts a somewhat simplistic and minimalistic vibe.

As shown in my DPS, the heading's font is in a graffiti font, which has connotations with Grime, due to the fact that graffiti is a prominent aspect of Grime culture. As well as this, with the location of the image being outside a block of flats also ties in with Grime culture as Grime artists often come from working class backgrounds, and most likely grew up in flats. This also makes the article relatable for the target audience, as they may have a similar upbringing. The pull quote also includes slang/urban terms which again would make it more relatable for the target audience. Models in both the DPS and front cover are sporting branded clothing such as Nike and Adidas, due to the fact that branded clothing is also a prominent feature of Grime culture. Artists such as Stormzy are sponsored by these brands, specifically Adidas, consequently both the brand and the artists are often associated with one another as part of their overall image. Furthermore, the colour scheme in both media products are monochrome, however the front cover features a gold crown, which was inspired by an NME front cover, in which Grime artist Wiley was featured on.
In terms of my models, Grime is stereotypically Black dominated, therefore I used one White model, specifically Lithuanian in order to subvert from this stereotype. I did however still include Black/Mixed race models, so that the genre was easily distinguishable. Also, Grime is generally male dominated, as a result, I included female models in order to subvert from this. This communicates that Grime is available for all races and both genders.
